Summer

My mind is regressing at an alarming rate.

My body continues the equally alarming rate of painful descent it started before I retired (for health reasons) just before my 70th birthday about three years past but my mind is off on a tangent (if a tangent can reverse it’s flow).

I haven’t got to the masturbation at the sight of a skirt part yet (I look forward to that bit) but going backward it certainly is.

The day outside is warm and sunny with a hint of conservatism but I waited until this afternoon to indulge.

The morning was spent on thinking about going out, preparing to go out, writing a list of things I should go out for and then deciding to prepare lunch instead.

Lunch was a success. It consisted of a plate of green beans while preparing dinner. Lunch came from my garden. My garden was unamused.

Immediately after lunch I retrieved my car keys, put on my hat, made sure my wallet was in my shorts pocket and decided to go out on the morrow.

A bottle of a gentle white was eased out of the refrigerator, some nuts and roasted pumpkin seeds made accessible for my easy chair, a good book opened and sleep was achieved.

Some time later, upon awakening and once more half compus-mentus, I wandered out into the sunshine, deposited myself in the old wooden arm-chair (quite the most comfortable chair I have ever owned) and found sleep again.

I dreamed of pleasant pastures and woke to see my very healthy tomatoes and chillies also basking in the sun.

Not being completely awake I wandered halfway around my house, checking my flowers and front garden and then wandered back to my armchair, wondering all the way if this was, indeed, nirvana?

I suspect it is.
